Warnings and Cautions

You must read all of the information set out below before you operate your Sunburst equipment.

The instructions, warnings and precautions set out below could not cover every situation or condition that could occur. The operator must understand that caution and common sense cannot be built into the operation of this product, but must be supplied by the operator.

You are responsible for propane care. Assure there are proper connections at all times and use care in the ignition, use, storage, and transport of propane.

Never leave the equipment unattended when it is ignited or until it has cooled after use.  Further, ensure proper storage of the propane tank used with the equipment to ensure this tank is safely protected from potential hazards as well as inappropriate use.

Before each use, inspect the equipment in its entirety to ensure all parts and components are properly in place and secure.  It will be necessary periodically to tighten and secure loosened parts. With repeated use, alternating heating and cooling of the equipment may loosen hardware and fittings on the equipment.  Check for any odor of propane.  Spraying soapy water over and around fittings can help identify leaks.  Bubbles will occur wherever propane is leaking.  Do not operate if propane is leaking.  Do not operate if any cracks or other damage is visible on any components; replace these parts before the equipment is used again.  Tighten all fittings to ensure they are secure and not leaking.

Before igniting the equipment, investigate the area where the thermal equipment is to be used and remove obstacles that could damage the equipment. Also remove any ignition hazards to prevent unwanted fires (such as paper, dry plant materials).  Operate the equipment only in good light.

It is important to always have an emergency supply of water and an effective application system on hand when the equipment is being used.  This water supply must be suitable for the conditions where work is being done and be an effective fire suppressant in the event of unwanted ignition of any flammable materials.

Keep others, especially children and pets, away when in use, or as it is cooling after use. It should never be unattended at these times. The equipment  is very hot when lit and due care should be taken to avoid all contact while it is in use or cooling. Allow the equipment to cool naturally; it is not recommended that water be used to hasten cooling since it will help erode the equipment.

Other than to adjust the flow of propane or water, use both hands and stay behind the handle while the equipment is in use. When stopping, take caution not to trip or fall or otherwise come into contact with the equipment. Turn off the propane or at least minimize the pilot light when not performing weed control operations. Keep proper footing and balance to ensure control and to prevent accidents. Keep the handle clean to ensure a proper grip.
Do not modify this equipment and use it only for the purpose intended.

Dress safely for the terrain, especially in using proper footwear, such as work shoes or boots.  Gloves may be used to help protect your hands.

Do not use if infirmed, tired, or under the influence of any drugs that cause drowsiness, imbalance or other impairment, including alcohol. It is important to stay alert, use common sense and be aware what you are doing.

While working and for an appropriate time after work has stopped (the length of time will depend on the working conditions), examine all treated areas periodically to monitor for unwanted ignition of any flammable materials.  Respond immediately to any sign of smoke or burning.

This product is intended for use by adults only.  Be sure to secure when transporting.  Store the equipment in a dry location to prevent damage to metal.
